<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";" lang="FR">Palavras-chave<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";" lang="FR">: Missão de Pesquisas Folclóricas de 1938; Propriedade intelectual; Acervos musicais; Música tradicional do Nordeste.

<span style="font-size: 16.0pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";" lang="FR">The Mission of Folklore Research collection, 1938-2012

<span style="font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";" lang="FR">Abstract<span style="font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";" lang="FR"> : In 1938, Mário de Andrade, then Head of the Department for Culture of the City of São Paulo, dispatched a “Mission of Folklore Research” to the North and Northeast of Brazil, in order to record and film popular cultural manifestations, especially musical ones. The collected materials have been since maintained by the municipality’s cultural institutions. On various occasions between 1997 and 2012, the author of this article visited sites where the Mission of 1938 made its recordings, thus getting to meet some “descendants” – biological or cutural – of persons contacted decades earlier. These recent encounters provoke reflexions on intellectual property, ethics and archive policies.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";" lang="FR">Keywords :<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";" lang="FR"> 1938 Folklore Research Mission; Intellectual property; Musical archives; Traditional music from Northeastern Brazil

}, number={12}, journal={DEBATES - Cadernos do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Música}, author={Sandroni, Carlos}, year={2014}, month={jul.} }
