In recent months, the Revista de Pesquisa Cuidado é Fundamental Online (RPCFO) has recorded a significant increase in submissions of review articles, bibliometric studies, theoretical essays, and other types of non-original manuscripts. While we acknowledge the importance of these contributions to the advancement of science, it is essential to maintain editorial balance and adherence to international indexing standards, particularly the SciELO Health criteria, which establish clear proportions between original and non-original articles. According to these criteria, at least 75% of the content published in each issue must consist of original articles, presenting new results from empirical, experimental, clinical, or field research. Other manuscripts, such as reviews, case reports, bibliometric analyses, theoretical reflections, and editorials, should not exceed 25% of the total published content. This guideline ensures that journals prioritize the dissemination of new and relevant knowledge for the scientific community, keeping originality as the cornerstone of academic communication. In the RPCFO’s editorial practice, the proportion between original and non-original articles was at risk of becoming unbalanced due to the high number of literature reviews, mapping studies, and bibliometric investigations submitted within a short period. To prevent this scenario from compromising both manuscript evaluation and the journal’s compliance with indexing requirements, the editorial team has temporarily decided to suspend submissions of non-original manuscripts. This measure is preventive and strategic, as it will allow the editorial board to focus on the analysis, evaluation, and publication of original articles, in line with the quality and internationalization standards required by major scientific indexing platforms. Furthermore, it will contribute to greater efficiency in the editorial process, reducing the evaluation and response time for authors, which remains a permanent commitment of RPCFO to its academic community. RPCFO emphasizes that this suspension does not represent a devaluation of review articles, bibliometric studies, or theoretical contributions. On the contrary, we recognize their relevance in systematizing the state of the art, identifying knowledge gaps, and pointing out directions for future research. However, to ensure the sustainability and quality of scientific publication, it is essential to maintain editorial balance, with original articles representing the substantial majority of published content. We expect to resume the reception of review articles and other categories soon, with even clearer criteria for submission, evaluation, and prioritization. Until then, we thank our authors, reviewers, and readers for their understanding and collaboration, confident that this decision strengthens the journal, ensures compliance with international publication standards, and reaffirms our commitment to health sciences, nursing, and biociências research.

Notice about the Publication of Accepted Articles in RPCFO

Dear readers, authors, reviewers, and editors,

We are pleased to inform you that the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) has completed the licensing and contracting process for the company responsible for the layout of accepted articles in the Revista de Pesquisa Cuidado é Fundamental Online (RPCFO). Therefore, we will soon resume the publication of accepted articles from 2024, as well as those accepted in 2025.

RPCFO, edited by the Graduate Programs in Nursing and the Graduate Program in Health and Technology in the Hospital Environment – Professional Master's Program at Alfredo Pinto School of Nursing (UNIRIO), reaffirms its commitment to open science and the free submission, evaluation, and publication of articles. The temporary suspension of submissions was necessary due to the need to hire a new company for layout services, ensuring editorial quality and the sustainability of the journal.

With the completion of this process, we will soon resume the publication of accepted articles, ensuring that RPCFO continues its mission to disseminate scientific knowledge in an accessible, free, and high-quality manner.
