PARADISE NOW: O PODER DA LIBERAÇÃO SEXUAL NA CRIAÇÃO DE MOVIMENTOS POLÍTICO-SOCIAIS

Resumo

RESUMO O artigo trata de estudos e práticas desenvolvidos pelo Living Theatre – grupo teatral surgido nos EUA na década de 40 – em especial durante o processo de criação do espetáculo Paradise Now. Neste projeto, uma das hipóteses do grupo era de que a liberação sexual possibilitaria o resgate de um desejo imanente desapegado da falta e um desejável estado de presença por meio da busca de uma reconexão profunda consigo mesmo e com o entorno. O objetivo é analisar as experiências e reflexões do grupo acerca das formas de repressão que atingem os indivíduos, as quais se tornam opressões sociais. Conceitos como o de “Corpo sem Órgãos” e “Campo de Imanência do Desejo”, de Deleuze e Guattari, ao lado de ideias essenciais ao pensamento oriental e do conceito de repressão sexual de Wilhelm Reich são empregados para analisar a relação entre trabalho artístico e práticas de existência no percurso do Living Theatre. ABSTRACT This paper aims to present studies and practices developed by the Living Theatre - theater group emerged in the US in the 40’s - especially during the creative process of their play Paradise Now. One of their hypothesis in that project was that sexual liberation enables the rescue of an immanent desire unattached from lack and a desirable state of presence, through the pursuit of a profound reconnection with oneself and the environment. We aim to analyze the group’s experiences and reflections on the forms of repression that affect individuals, which become social oppressions. Concepts such as “Body Without Organs” and “Field of Immanence of Desire” by Deleuze and Guattari, alongside essential ideas of the Eastern thought and the concept of sexual repression by Wilhelm Reich, are used to analyze the relationship between artwork and existing practices in the Living Theatre route.
