ARQUITETURA-EVENTO, INSTALAÇÃO OU ESPAÇO TEATRAL TEMPORÁRIO? UM ESTUDO SOBRE O THE SHED EM LONDRES

RESUMO Este artigo discute uma proposta inusitada para um teatro provisório construido em anexo ao National Theatre de Londres, que implica internamente uma solucão cênica participativa aliada a uma estética desafiadora que permite ao fruidor de sua volumetria externa imaginar- se diante de uma arquitetura-evento ou mesmo uma instalação. A intenção dos idealizadores do escritório Haworth Tompkins era que o teatro efêmero possibilitasse uma alternativa de sala de espetáculo enquanto o Cottesloe Theatre (atual Dorfman Theatre) – uma das salas do abrangente complexo - estivesse fechado para obras, exatamente a cargo do mesmo escritório de arquitetura. Apesar de o teatro ter sido erguido como uma estrutura temporária, sua singularidade e projeto adequado para exibir peças experimentais impediram-no de ser demolido depois que o Dorman foi inaugurado. Palavras-chave: arquitetura teatral, arquitetura-evento; instalação; site-oriented; arquitetura performática ABSTRACT This article discusses an unusual proposal for a temporary theatre built attached to the Royal National Theatre in London, which internally implies a participatory scenic lay-out combined with a challenging external aesthetic that allows the spectators to imagine themselves in front of an architecture-event or even an artistic intervention. The Haworth Tompkins studio proposed to build the ephemeral theatre as an alternative theatrical space while the Cottesloe Theatre (now Dorfman Theatre ) - one of the comprehensive theatres of the National complex - was closed for works directed by the same architectural studio. Although the theatre was thought as a temporary structure, its singularity and adequate project for experimental plays prevented it to be demolished after the Dorfman was inaugurated.
