Resumen

The living acting from the perspective of the British director Declan Donnellan

RESUMO: O autor apresenta o pensamento do artista britânico Declan Donnellan, diretor da companhia teatral Cheek by Jowl, no que diz respeito ao trabalho criativo do ator. Nesse sentido, discorre sobre os princípios e as práticas de que esse diretor lança mão na busca por uma qualidade específica de vida na arte da atuação. Além disso, oferece especial atenção ao trabalho desse artista com o ritmo vivo na fala cênica. Como resultado, explicita as contribuições de Donnellan para o estudo do conceito de “atuação cênica viva” (proposto em ALBRICKER, 2019), cuja leitura pode ser proveitosa para artistas da cena, em especial para atores e diretores profissionais e, também, em formação.

ABSTRACT: The thoughts on the actor’s creative work by the director of the Cheek by Jowl theatre company, British artist Declan Donnellan, are presented in this article. It discusses the main principles and practices adopted by this artist while searching for the specific properties of life in his art. In addition, special attention is given to his work concerning the living rhythm in the actor’s speech. As a result, Donnellan’s contributions to the study of the “living scenic acting” concept are highlighted, following what was proposed in Albricker (2019) and whose reading may be worthwhile for theatre artists, especially for students and professional actors and directors.
