Abstract

This article analyzes the relief of the birth of Mithras, found at the archaeological site of Housesteads (Vercovicium) in 1822, more specifically outside the Roman fort, on the site of a mithraeum, near what is currently known as Hadrian's Wall. After a brief introduction to the theme and the object, an analysis of the visual work is conducted, identifying its elements and their potential meanings. Finally, it presents a proposal for the intentional use of Ω by the author of the relief as a temporal marker between the different symbols identified.
