This theoretical essay aims to discuss the relationship between myths of origin and drive dynamics through theoretical research in psychoanalysis, using fragments of the animation “Moana: um mar de aventuras” (2016). From the dialogue between Psychoanalysis and Cinema, it was reflected on the human subjective universe and its relationship with the cultural phenomena that surround it. In this sense, the myths of origin are the meeting point between both dimensions, as they enable the parameters of recognition and social representations, as well as circumscribe the pulsional dynamics of the subjects that make up a certain cultural system, which can be identified in the poetic constructions of the soundtracks and imagery of the analyzed film.
