Abstract

ABSTRACT: The article proposes a reflection on how black musicians articulate themselves against the posture of the white jury in a talk show in the context of the Brazilian civil-military dictatorship. The starting point is the interview with Zeca do Trombone, recognized by the specialized media as one of the greatest piston trombonists in the world. On his 1977 LP “Zeca do Trombone e Roberto Sax”, there is the samba-rock “Na cara desse cara”, by Luis Vagner, with lyrics intended for José Fernandes, judge of the FlávioCavalcanti program, known for his bad humor and arrogance. Understanding the aforementioned rhythm as one of the spaces for meeting and articulating black or aphrodiasporic Atlantic music, racial tensions, narrative disputes and power relations are brought into focus through the methodology of oral history.
