Replicantes da extrema direita na cena política nacional
Abstract
The text examines the rise of the far-right in the Brazilian political scene, linking it to the decline of nation-states and the emergence of a centerless global “empire”, according to theories by Wallerstein, Hardt, and Negri. It highlights the celebration of the bicentennial of independence in 2022, marked by a jingoistic and militaristic tone under the Bolsonaro government, contrasting with the centennial celebrations in 1922. It also addresses the spread of disinformation and conspiracy theories as tools of hybrid warfare, which promote social divisions and cognitive dissonance. Finally, it refl ects on the resurgence of authoritarian symbols and memories, questioning the effectiveness of past imagery in current political mobilization.
