Studies for Trumpet Based on “Dobrados”

Abstract

This paper consists of a description of the preparation of a book containing 68 studies for trumpet, for students at the intermediate level, based on musical structures of “dobrados”(i. e. Brazilian March). The preparation of this book is justified by the scarcity of didactic materials published in Brazil in order to attending music classes in bands, especially those for trumpet. The steps of material elaboration are presented, as well as the adaptations made to make it didactically progressive. The study book was apply in the trumpet classes of wind band “Associação Musical Cajuruense” and aims to contribute to the process of musical formation of trumpet players from “dobrados’s excerpts. During the classes, the students provided feedback about the new material, so that new adjustments considered their opinion in order to prepare a book that realistically meets the students’ needs. Finally, it was observed that the “dobrados” can contribute in the process of trumpet learning due to the musical recognition of their melodies throughout the execution of the exercises, and also because this musical genre contains rhythmic cells that are often repeated, collaborating to the memorization of the new content provided to students.
