The three bells
an essay on the tripartition of death

This article, in the form of a theoretical essay, aims to discuss the hypothesis that we can understand three distinct aspects of death according to the three psychic registers proposed by Jacques Lacan, that is, this study supports the hypothesis that, for Lacan, it is possible to think of a tripartition of death. In order to reach the proposed goal, a study was carried out on the Borromean Knot to then go through distinctions of death in each of the structural registers of human reality, namely: Symbolic, Imaginary and Real. It is concluded that it is possible to recognize the differences between the deaths in the following way: Symbolic death as inaugural because efficient cause of man; the Imaginary death related to anguish when we think about our existential annihilation; and, finally, the Real death as the final cause of every human.
