A naenia no funeral: revisitando o famoso relevo de Amiternum

Entre as figuras do relevo de Amiternum, há um pequeno grupo de mulheres enlutadas, provavelmente contratadas e ligadas ao lucus dos agentes funerários, os libitinarii. Este artigo perguntará por essas profissionais e pelo significado da canção que elas entoavam no funeral, a naenia, a partir deste documento ímpar sobre um funeral romano. Não há nenhuma fonte que proveja dados seguros sobre a sequência ritual, e apresenta-se aqui uma hipótese de leitura do significado religioso da naenia. Referências literárias alusivas e esparsas, interpretações modernas e a iconografia do relevo são fundamentais para qualquer tentativa de reconstrução do significado da naenia.
