Abstract

The field of studies that relates history and literature has been expanding more and more, and its investigation investigates an opening in relation to narrative, leading historians to increasingly problematize their activity at the time of writing. The present work aims to present the “concept sketch” of imagery as a possibility for analyzing the works of Virginia Woolf (1882 - 1941), having as main point the metaphors used by the author that refer to the aquatic world. For this, I use the work “Naufrágio com Espectador” by Hans Blumenberg as an interlocutor. Thus, what is expected is to affirm the place of metaphorology and imagery as analytical possibilities of the literary text, a bulletin in the beginning of the 20th century.
