Abstract

Rock in Rio Brasil, one of the largest music festivals in the world, has adopted several actions to become accessible and inclusive. Due to the diversity of participant profiles, an approach that respects the dignity of each individual is necessary. Brazilian legislation, such as the Statute of Persons with Disabilities and the Consumer Protection Code, ensure inclusion and accessibility as fundamental rights, imposing clear responsibilities on event organizing companies. Concrete measures, such as ramps, adapted bathrooms and accessibility in all areas of the event, are essential to eliminate barriers and promote social inclusion. By implementing these practices, Rock in Rio demonstrates its commitment to meeting the needs of the public and promoting a diverse and inclusive event, aligned with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 10. The results show that the practices implemented by the event organizers demonstrate a significant commitment to promoting diversity and equality, directly benefiting vulnerable groups such as the elderly, pregnant women and people with disabilities. From an interdisciplinary perspective, this study provides valuable input in the area of events, with a focus on inclusion and accessibility, in the context of one of the largest music festivals in the world. This study also suggests that complementary research can explore the social and economic impact of these practices, as well as compare approaches between different music festivals in Brazil and around the world.
