This essay seeks to reflect on the extent to which the figure of the performer, particularly the actor-singer, is increasingly indispensable to the realization of scenic-musical shows by amateur theater companies. The role of this artist, in the interfaces between music and theater, will be presented here, where, from our experience as composer, arranger and musical director in theater performances where music is fundamental for the development of the dramaturgy, comments about the action of the generalist artist and the specialist artist will be made. The complexity of a multifaceted performance for the performer who simultaneously acts and sings — and eventually dances and plays musical instruments — as well as the fields of interaction between musical creation and theatrical performance as a consequence of the collaboration of the performer during the process of creation and realization of the work will also be observed.
