RUSSIAN REVOLUTION OF 1917: VIEWS AND OPINIONS EXPRESSED IN ANARCHIST NEWSPAPERS IN SOUTH AMERICA (LA PLEBE AND LA PROTESTA)

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to study the news and approaches presented in the pages of the anarchist newspapers A Plebe (1917-1951) and La Protesta (1892-2015) regarding the events that made up the Russian Revolution (1917). The events of 1917 in the Russian Federation caused not only news within Europe, but were also the subject of different issues of the respective anarchist newspapers in Brazil and Argentina, but not only were the facts presented as simple news, but they also served the leaders of the anarchist movements in question as inspiration for the organization of the working class. Within the time frame of 1917, the anarchist press sought to transfigure for its readers, especially the individuals who made up the lower classes, such as the workers, that through organization and joint action, the uprisings in their respective countries could have outcomes close to those witnessed in Russian territory. Finally, the newspapers A Plebe and La Protesta sought not only to praise the movement, but also to identify and criticize the basic points that, for the anarchists, led the Russian revolutionary process down a turbulent path and away from those who made up the social base.
