Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The identification of authorship was removed from the file and from the Properties option in Word, guaranteeing the confidentiality criteria of the journal, if submitted for peer review (eg articles), according to the instructions available at Ensuring Blind Peer Review.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal; otherwise, it must be justified in "Comments to the Editor".
  • The files are in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF format (as long as they do not exceed 2MB)
  • URLs for referrals were provided when necessary.
  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Author Guidelines, in the About the Journal section.

Author Guidelines

Texts for submission must contain between 6,000 and 12,000 words (not including abstract, titles, keywords and keywords) and must be submitted in doc, according to the template available at:

Submissions that do not comply with the formatting of the template will not be accepted.

The submitted file must include: abstract (from 150 to 300 words), keywords and title in Portuguese, spanish and in English (or French). The text must follow ABNT norms in citations and, at the end, in complete references. In the body of the text, use the author/date system and not the notes system (ie, do not use ibid, idem, op.cit, etc). Illustrations, figures, pictures, tables and musical examples, if any, must be included in the text, with numbered captions, and also sent separately, in good resolution, numbered according to their sequence in the text. The name(s) of the author(s) must not appear in the text file, in order to guarantee double-blind peer review. The name(s), contact email(s) and information about the author(s) (up to 15 lines for each author) must be sent in a separate file.

Collaborations must be submitted by the system.

Texts in Portuguese, Spanish or English are accepted.

The Articles section brings together academic papers submitted on a rolling basis, covering different fields of music research and their diverse theoretical and methodological approaches.

Dossiê Funk

Editoras/es convidadas/os: Iasmin Turbininha, Leonardo Moraes, Renan Moutinho e Taísa Machado

“É som de preto, de favelado, mas quando toca ninguém fica parado!” Esse verso é parte do “Rap da Felicidade”, música dos funkeiros Cidinho e Doca, estouradíssima nos bailes funks dos anos 1990, nas comunidades do Rio de Janeiro e Brasil afora. Advento da contemporaneidade, o funk é, antes de tudo, uma expressão afrossônica e uma manifestação cultural na diáspora, forjada nos subúrbios, nas quebradas e nas favelas, alimentada pela dinâmica dos batidões, sampleada pelas melodias do caos e difundida pelas harmonias do “atura ou surta”. Essa manifestação pode ser compreendida, vista e dançada nos bailes, nos alto-falantes de carros, nas festas das mais diferentes localidades e nos meios midiáticos de difusão musical (Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud e rádios) e de informações sobre o universo funk, contando histórias outras que a história não conta. Reduto das variadas experiências estéticas, o funk, conforme sua larga difusão no Brasil e no mundo, pode ser batidão, melody, tamborzão, ostentação, brega, consciente, proibição, pop e gospel, dentre outros campos de atuação. Entre BPMs, rimas, samples e beats, a musicalidade afrodiaspórica, que é uma expressão das favelas, becos e vielas, anuncia as realidades vividas pelas pessoas nos seus cotidianos, produzindo ousadia e liberdade, sociabilidade e identidade, afeto e cuidado. A partir de experiências e práticas pautadas no campo da música, compreendida de maneira expandida, convidamos artistas funkeiros, artistas das mais diferentes áreas, pesquisadoras/es, educadoras/es e demais pessoas de interesse de outras áreas afins ao foco deste dossiê a apresentarem artigos científicos sobre o funk. Convite este pautado por inflexões que reflitam sobre o universo funk, visto de fenômenos acústicos, históricos, sociais, econômicos, técnicos, culturais, políticos, sonoros e conceituais, priorizando a produção nacional em diálogo com os diferentes campos da música. Outras áreas tais como as Ciências Sociais, Comunicação e Economia Criativa estão convidadas a submeter textos que extrapolem estes direcionamentos à temática do dossiê.

As submissões para o dossiê devem ser feitas pelo Sistema OJS e formatadas conforme as orientações para os autores (ver aba Submissões).

Serão aceitas submissões em português, espanhol e inglês.
