OS DESAFIOS DA PRODUÇÃO MUSICAL HAITIANA EM SÃO PAULO COM BASE NO CASO DA BIGUP#1

Este artículo ofrece un análisis etnomusicológico de la producción musical haitiana en la ciudad de São Paulo a través del estudio de caso de BigUp#1, una banda formada por migrantes haitianos dedicada principalmente al konpa, un estilo popular de música bailable haitiana. Mediante una investigación etnográfica participativa, en la que fui segundo guitarrista del grupo en 2021, y entrevistas con miembros de la banda, dirijo el análisis a preguntas sobre cómo la producción de un grupo musical haitiano en la ciudad de São Paulo se conecta con problemáticas socioculturales más amplias de la diáspora haitiana en Brasil, principalmente aquellas relacionadas con la "temporalidad cotidiana" (Fernandes y Pachi, 2021) que conforma la vida cotidiana de esta población, la falta de espacios y oportunidades para el desarrollo de actividades culturales, y la transitoriedad y dificultad para mantener proyectos musicales. Además, analizo cómo tales esfuerzos de producción musical (y cultural) demuestran una comprensión de la cultura como un recurso (Yúdice 2003) por parte de mis interlocutores, a través de la movilización de la música como una forma de proporcionar entretenimiento a la comunidad haitiana y buscar mayores conexiones con la sociedad local.
