Abstract

Objective: to evaluate the knowledge about HIV/AIDS among elderly women followed in the Renascer interdisciplinary program at the Gaffrée e Guinle University Hospital (HUGG) in Rio de Janeiro. Method: the study was characterized as an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study, with a convenience sample made up of members of the Renascer program attending the geriatric outpatient clinic at the Gaffrée and Guinle University Hospital. The study assessed the HIV/AIDS knowledge of 51 elderly women in an interdisciplinary program in Rio de Janeiro, using a questionnaire on HIV knowledge for the elderly (QHIV3I) and the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). Results: although the majority of participants (88.2%) demonstrated knowledge by getting at least 65% of the questions right, gaps were found for aspects related to basic HIV concepts, transmission and treatment. Conclusion: we believe that health education and information strategies and policies for this population profile should be reviewed.

Médico e professor do serviço de clínica médica A do Hospital Universitário Gaffrée e Guinle (HUGG - UNIRIO 2003-atual). Professor de Clinica médica /Geriatria (responsável) da Escola de Medicina e Cirurgia da UNIRIO (2014 - atual). Coordenador do Programa de Pós-Graduação de Geriatria da UNIRIO (2016-atual). Gerente de Atenção à Saúde da Rede Ebserh/Hospital Universitário Gaffrée e Guinle (2015-2017) e Exerceu a função de Superintendente Médico do Hospital Universitário Gaffrée e Guinle (2010-2011 e 2014-2015). Graduado em medicina pela Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO/2000).Pós- graduado em Geriatria e Gerontologia pela Unati-UERJ/2006.Especialista em Gestão SUS pelo Hospital Sírio-Libanês (2016). Enfermeiro graduado pela Escola de Enfermagem Anna Nery (EEAN), Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ - 2010), especialista em Enfermagem Obstétrica pela UNIGRANRIO (2014). Concluiu o mestrado em 2013 e o doutorado em 2018, ambos em Ciências Biológicas (Genética) no Instituto de Biologia (IB) da UFRJ. Estudou a expressão de genes da imunidade inata no sangue de pacientes infectados com HIV (mestrado), e busca por mecanismos que justifiquem a maior susceptibilidade ao HIV em mulheres infectadas pelo HPV, através do estudo da imunidade na mucosa vaginal e no sangue (doutorado e pós-doutorado). Atualmente é: Professor adjunto da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro; Professor credenciado do Programa de Pós-graduação em Infecção HIV/Aids e Hepatites Virais, mestrado profissional do Hospital Universitário Gaffrée e Guinle (HUGG); Professor convidado do curso de especialização de Enfermagem Obstétrica da UNIG; pós-doutorando no Instituto Nacional de Câncer (INCA); enfermeiro no HUGG e na ambulância do Programa Cegonha Carioca. Membro do grupo de pesquisa: Laboratório Interdisciplinar de Extensão e Pesquisa em Saúde Sexual e Reprodutiva (LIEPER). Como enfermeiro atuou em: emergências, clínicas médicas, clínicas cirúrgicas e maternidade. Já deu aula: no curso de especialização de enfermagem obstétrica da UNIGRANRIO; no mestrado professional do departamento de Biologia da UFRJ; no curso de residência multiprofissional do HUGG.
