Guidelines for Authors

The Research Journal: Care is Fundamental On Line [RPCFO] was transferred to the non-profit electronic format (SEER) in May 2009. It is currently edited by the Graduate Program in Nursing (PPGENF) - Master's and PhD in Nursing, of the School of Nursing, Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), with periodicity in CONTINUOUS FLOW, consisting of one volume per year. It is classified in the QUALIS/CAPES as B2.

When submitting a manuscript, the SUBMISSION METADATA should include all the AUTHORS who may be mentioned as << AUTHOR >> in the body of the text. The submission of the manuscript, attachments and the completion of all data are the sole responsibility of the author submitting the manuscript and not of the Editor.

The inclusion of ORCID records in the Submission Metadata is MANDATORY, as well as the RESUMO in PORTUGUESE and REFERENCES. Otherwise, the submission MAY BE SUMMARILY FILED.

The Research Organization Registry (ROR) is a global, community-led registry of open persistent identifiers for research organizations. The ROR makes it easy for anyone or any system to disambiguate institution names and connect research organizations to researchers and research outputs. If your institution does not already have this digital identifier, please suggest joining at: Research Organization Registry (ROR) | Registry.

At the moment you are entering the authors' affiliation in the submission system, when you start typing your institution, the system will start searching for the name of the institution, which may be written in Portuguese or in another language, usually English. Once your institution appears as an option, just click on it and save. See in the illustration below how easy it is.

All manuscripts are previously appreciated by the Editor with regard to the adequacy to the RPCFO Format and Structure Standards and, if considered adequate, will be forwarded to Ad hoc consultants of recognized competence in the subject matter. In case of disagreement, it will be sent for a second evaluation. In case of identification of conflict of interest by the consultants, it will be forwarded to another consultant.

Systematic Review of Literature

Uses a research method performed by synthesizing the results of original studies, quantitative or qualitative, with the objective of answering a specific question of relevance to Nursing and/or related areas. It describes in detail the process of searching for original studies, the criteria used to select those included in the review and the procedures used to synthesize the results obtained by the reviewed studies (which may or may not be meta-analysis or meta-synthesis procedures). The premises of the systematic review are: exhaustiveness in the search for studies, justified selection of studies by means of explicit inclusion and exclusion criteria and evaluation of methodological quality, as well as the use of statistical techniques to quantify the results. Maximum of 5.000 words.

Bibliometrics

Bibliometric research relies on studies conducted in bibliographic databases, indexers and abstracts, in directories and catalogs of journal titles, and in references and citations. Among others, its most frequent and most relevant field of application for this work is the identification of the thematic characteristics of the literature. In short, bibliometric research is done by studying the quantitative aspects of the production, dissemination and use of published information. Maximum of 5,000 words.

Integrative Review of the Literature

It uses a research method that presents a synthesis of multiple published studies and allows general conclusions about a particular area of knowledge, carried out in a systematic and orderly manner, and contributes to deepening knowledge of the subject under investigation. It is necessary to follow standards of methodological rigor, clarity in the presentation of results, so that the reader can identify the actual characteristics of the studies included in the review. Integrative review steps: identification of theme and selection of research hypothesis or question for the study design, establishment of criteria for inclusion and exclusion of studies/sampling, or literature search, definition of information to be extracted from the selected studies/categorization of studies, assessment of studies included in the review, interpretation of results, presentation of review/knowledge synthesis. Maximum of 5.000 words.

Scope Review

It is defined as a type of study that seeks to explore the main concepts of the topic in question, investigate the dimension, scope and nature of the study, condensing and publishing the data, thus pointing out gaps in existing research. Studies in this category must follow high methodological rigor, authors are encouraged to register their protocol in the Open Science Framework – OSF (https://osf.io/). The registration number reported in the manuscript. For construction, scoping review protocols must follow the PRISMA-ScR recommendations (https://www.equator-network.org/reporting-guidelines/prisma-scr/).
