Changes in assistance and care in the pregnancy-puerperal cycle in times of coronavirus

Abstract

Objective: to know the specific procedures and care provided to pregnant women, puerperal women and newborns in times of a pandemic and to analyze changes in prenatal care, labor, delivery and the postpartum period during the coronavirus pandemic. Methods: this is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study involving 26 women. The interviews were conducted via the Google Forms platform, with closed and open questions. Results: Two categories emerged from the study: 1) Influence of social isolation on the emergence of mental disorders; 2) Adaptations with loss of sexual and reproductive, social and labor rights. Conclusion: mental health and sexual and reproductive, social and labor rights were shown to be more vulnerable in women who experienced pregnancy and postpartum in the coronavirus pandemic.

Gabrielle Adeliano, Enfermeira na Clínica da família Romulo Carlos Teixeira

Nurse at the Family Clinic Romulo Carlos Teixeira - CAP 5.1 in Rio de Janeiro. During her nursing undergraduate studies at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), she acted as Scientific Initiation Scholar "Nursing care in the perinatal areas and women in the life cycle", under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Cristiane Rodrigues da Rocha. And was vice president in the Liga Acadêmica de Enfermagem em Saúde da Mulher e do Neonato - UNIRIO and was scholarship student of the Prefeitura do Rio de Janeiro.

Jozeane Seabra, Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro

Nurse graduated from the Alfredo Pinto School of Nursing (EEAP) of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO). Master student of the Graduate Program in Nursing (PPGENF) of UNIRIO. I am currently a Fellow of the Social Demand Program (DS) of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). Specialist in Modern Education by PUC (2019). Associate Professor at the Alfredo Pinto School of Nursing of the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Current Director (Management 2020-2024). Collaborates in the Undergraduate Course, in the discipline Curricular Internship in Women's Health Care and in the discipline Nursing in Women's Health Care. Works in the Stricto Sensu Graduate Program, Graduate Program in Nursing - PPGENF Master's Degree, in the discipline Research Methodology and in orientation and in the Graduate Program in Health and Technology in the Hospital Space - PPGSTEH Master's Degree, in orientation. Member of the Center for Research, Teaching and Experimentation in Nursing in Women's and Children's Health (since 2006).
