Nursing team knowledge about sedoanalgesia in an icu of a private hospital

Objective: To analyze the knowledge of the nursing team in an adult intensive care unit regarding sedation and analgesia, describing their sociodemographic profile and professional experience. Methods: This is a prospective cross-sectional study, conducted from May 11 to 17, 2022, in a private hospital in Manaus, with 54 professionals (13 nurses and 41 technicians). Data were collected using a structured questionnaire with ten questions and analyzed through descriptive statistics and the Mann-Whitney test (p<0.05). Results: Most professionals had no specific training in pain or sedation/analgesia (92.2%), and only 46.2% reached a level of knowledge classified as sufficient or moderate. The average score was 3.92 among nurses and 3.14 among technicians, with no statistically significant difference.
Conclusion: The nursing team demonstrated unsatisfactory knowledge regarding sedation and analgesia, highlighting the need for investment in training and continuing education to improve intensive care assistance.
