Abstract

Objective: To demonstrate the influence of nursing reform in Spanish, focusing on Dona Concepcion Arenal, a character considered relevant in other disciplinary contexts: Law, Social Welfare, Health and Welfare of the Justice System, but that has hardly been taken into account in current overview of Spanish nurses. Method: theoretical and methodological perspective came from one shade provided by the disciplinary paradigm of interpretation, cultural history and the structural model as a tool of dialectical process of organizing and interpreting data. Results: The initial hypothesis maintains that: Concepción Arenal conducted a project to reform the Spanish nursing, but could not implement it, is a reference to the history of Spanish nurses. Conclusions: It is confirmed that Concepción Arenal was a pioneer in reforming the hospital system, to carry out field studies of general hospitals such as Madrid, in order to identify needs and find alternatives to elas.Além other achievements, he Arenal a project to reform the nursing staff was not completed due to the time of general instability in the country.
