Cares of nursing to the customer in Peritoneal Dialysis: practical contribution for and clinical handling.

This paper highlights the importance of the nursing staff at the peritoneal dialysis (PD) unit, emphasizing the activities developed by nurses through their scientific production on the caring of renal patients. Objectives: to identify among scientific production nursing care recommendations to PD patients; and to analyze, in such a literature, the strategies utilized by nurses to take care of patient at the PD unit. Methodology: bibliographical research, bringing to light the material available in Portuguese and Spanish at LILACS and BNENF data bases, between 1998 and 2008. Results: seven articles were selected, and discussion groups were created to explore the issues of nursing work with groups and the importance of the nurse-PD patient interaction. Conclusion: nurses have much work to develop and to plan alongside with the renal patient and his/her family, since the renal patient health will depend upon the responsibility and commitment of his/her carers.Downloads
