The study aimed to use bio in nursing practice with clients in precautionary air for pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) in a University Hospital in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). OBJECTIVES: To describe the use of biosafety in nursing practice with clients holder of pulmonary tuberculosis; characterize the circumstances of use of biosecurity in nursing practice to patients in respiratory precautions for pulmonary tuberculosis. The theoretical addressed: etiology, transmission and pathogenesis of pulmonary tuberculosis, biosecurity and biosafety in TB and nursing care. METHODS: This is a descriptive study with quantitative approach. Used as a method of data collection through structured interviews with 30 nurses in the sector of medical clinic of University Hospital of Rio de Janeiro, from August of 2008. RESULTS: 68% of nurses reported that there is no activity on biosafety in tuberculosis in the institution. CONCLUSION: it emphasizes the preconization of educational activities on biosafety in pulmonary tuberculosis and delivery of resources for better performance of these professionals in the health institution.Downloads
