Nursing diagnosis of vulnerabilities and health needs of men living on the island of Paqueta - RJ: experience report

This is an experience report about a study with men, residents on Paquetá island during the semester of 2009, as partial requirement of the practical activities carried out during Population Health Nursing Attention discipline Escola de Enfermagem Alfredo Pinto- UNIRIO. Objective: To report the experience in developing a vulnerability diagnosis and to propose nursing actions with a group of males living in the Paqueta island -BR. Results: The analysis of various aspects related to each of vulnerability dimension permited to establish health needs of this population and draw up proposals for action in order to reduce the vulnerabilities diagnosed. Participating in this process allowed for a combination of technical and popular knowledge, expanding the concept of health-disease process, thus allowing the vision of the meaning of health promotion. Conclusion: The developed actions, having as subject of attention the male population of the Paqueta island, extended the conception about the social health through the use of population vulnerability aiming at health promoting and strengthening the principle that health and disease are not only personal issues, but also cultural.Downloads
