Stressing factors: a challenge for intensive nursing

Objective: To analyze the stressors experienced by nursing professionals in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Manaus. Method: A descriptive study with a quantitative approach, conducted from April to May 2022. Data collection was carried out through the application of a standardized and structured questionnaire to 15 ICU nurses. Results: The majority of participants were female (78.57%) and male (21.43%), with a predominance of those aged between 25 and 30 years (60.00%). Regarding the self-assessment of stressors, it was observed that a large proportion of professionals reported the presence of work overload as a frequent stressor in the work environment. Conclusion: It was observed that nursing professionals experience different stressors in the work environment, highlighting work overload, aspects related to interpersonal relationships, and the demands of intensive care, evidencing the importance of institutional attention to the working conditions of these professionals.
