Spatial Analysis of the Mortality of Breast Cancer and Colon Cancer in Brazil in 2004

In Brazil, breast cancer and cervical cancer has become a major public health problem due to the high number of deaths. Objective: To analyze the distribution of deaths from breast cancer and cervical cancer in Brazil. Methods: Descriptive population-based study examined deaths of women in Brazil, diagnosed with breast cancer and cervical cancer, mapping the flow of cases from home to health services in Brazil, in 2004. Results: The spatial distribution of mortality from breast cancer showed a high concentration in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul and for cervical cancer in North. Conclusion: Mortality from breast cancer and cervix showed large variation among Brazilian regions, reflecting the impact of access to health services and quality of records.Downloads
