CLINICAL-EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PROFILE OF PANCREATIC CANCER CASES IN THE METROPOLITAN REGION OF RECIFE

Objective: To describe the clinical and epidemiological profile of pancreatic cancer cases in residents of the Metropolitan Region of Recife treated at a University Hospital. Methodology: Retrospective, descriptive research with a quantitative approach. Data collection took place in March 2025 through medical records. Results: A total of 79 cases were recorded. A predominance of male patients (56%), mixed race (59.5%), with a mean age of 61.6 years, was identified. Most had a history of tobacco and alcohol consumption. Regarding the various clinical findings, 39 cancers originated from the head of the pancreas, of the adenocarcinoma type (41.8%; n=33), and the most important basis for diagnosis was histology (55.7%). Approximately 40.5% of patients presented metastasis. The most commonly used treatment modality was chemotherapy (27.8%). Conclusion: The analysis revealed an increase in pancreatic cancer diagnoses over the years.
