Aspects that interfere in the patient experience in the hospital: scoping review

Abstract

Abstract: objective: To identify and map the variables that influence the patient experience in a hospital setting. Method: This is a scoping review of the patient experience in hospitals, aiming to map key concepts, synthesize evidence, and identify gaps in the literature. Searches included keywords in titles and abstracts across five databases, between 2018 and 2024, in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, targeting an adult audience. Results: A total of 1,906 studies were found; after removing duplicates, 1,538 articles remained. After analyzing titles and abstracts, 42 were selected, and 14 articles subsequently met the inclusion criteria. All addressed multifactorial variables that impact the patient experience. Conclusion: The study demonstrated that a satisfactory patient experience is associated with the performance of the nursing and medical teams, with emphasis on technical competence, effective communication, personalized care, and active listening.

Enfermeira graduada pela Faculdade de Enfermagem da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas (2009), especialista em Cardiologia e Hemodinâmica (2010), e em Gestão da Qualidade em Saúde (2021). Mestre pela Faculdade de Enfermagem da Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). Atualmente é aluna do Doutorado da Faculdade de Enfermagem da Universidade Estadual de Campinas e Supervisora da Qualidade e responsável pelo Núcleo de Segurança do Paciente do Hospital São Luiz Campinas. Tem experiência na área de Enfermagem, com ênfase em Enfermagem em Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Adulta e Coronária, Qualidade da assistência, Gestão da Qualidade e Segurança do Paciente.
