Male participation in educational groups of contraception: the look of nursing

Objectives: know the notion that nurses coordinating Group for Education Contraception (GECS) have on the terms "sexual and reproductive rights" and its relationship to professional practice, examine their beliefs about the presence of men in GECS and identify the strategies used for the incorporation of men in these groups in GECS. Method: A descriptive qualitative approach that, for data collection were used taped interviews with three nurses and one nursing assistant, all of GECS coordinators and participant observation of one of the GECS CAP 3.3. Results: For the respondents to the sexual rights and reproductive rights are synonymous, and that relate to the right to information and guidance. There is an appreciation of the male presence in GECS, showing that there is a greater acceptance of the participation of men in groups, but we do not find specific strategies that stimulate. Conclusion: This study points to the need for more studies addressing this issue, so that its importance is recognized and implemented.
