Abstract

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to identify self-care needs in patients with Chronic kidney disease (CKD), relating to their life quality. METHOD: Explanatory Descriptive Method through integrative review of literature, using 22 articles published in the period of 1996 to 2007. RESULTS: By means of content analysis, 27 subjects were delimited, which resulted in 4 categories concerning changes: the financial aspects of the client; in the health arising from the disease and its treatment; emotional and the importance of the health team in the treatment. CONCLUSION: It is concluded that these changes demanding needs of nursing orientation for the self-care, because life quality of the patients is influenced. To help them institutional measures and intentionality professionals are urgent. This makes that the nursing can propose dependent interventions of the identification of patient needs. Moreover, the relationship of the multidiscipline team and the support of the family are necessary for the patient adaptation in its life with CKD.
