MEMORY THOUGHT THE CLICK: THE FIRST GRADUATE CEREMONY OF SÃO PAULO HOSPITAL NURSING SCHOOL

Objective - Historical and documental nature study which objective is to identify, to describe and to analyze the meaning of the first graduate ceremony of São Paulo Hospital Nursing School – its rituals, emblem and symbols – through a photography. Method - It has been used as methodology the analysis of photographic text. The primary source has been composed by the referred image and some complementary information which has been acquired in assembly minutes and administrative documents. Results - The findings have indicated a strict hierarchy - demonstrated by people’s positioning on different photographic plains – which involved the directly engaged-on-course individuals as well as Catholic Church clergymen and Education members that were present on the ceremony. Since then, the photography at institution’s staircase became a traditional behavior for its forming students. Conclusions - We have concluded that the referred graduate ceremony was a synthesizing moment and has been revealing on many aspects, allowing the identification of authorities and other personalities that have done the institution’s history.Downloads
